How to sort and clean |
| Plastic Jugs (HDPE #2) - Milk jugs,
windshield cleaner, cat litter, liquid
laundry detergent, etc. |
Look for HDPE #2 on bottom of
jug. Dispose of lids, rinse &
drain jugs. No tubs, trays or
motor oil containers. |
| Plastic Bottles (PETE #1) - soda, juice,
water bottles, etc. |
Look for PETE #1 on bottom of
bottle. Dispose of lids, rinse &
drain bottles. No tubs, trays or
opaque bottles. |
| Newspaper - paper inserts okay. |
No plastic inserts or plastic
sleeves. Please do not wrap in
twine or tape. |
| Corrugated cardboard & brown paper
bags |
No greasy pizza boxes, "waxed"
boxes. |
| Office Paper - white, color, copy, fax,
legal pad, message pad, manila file
folders & envelopes, post-it notes,
glossy card stock, white envelopes, junk
mail, index cards & astro-brite paper. |
No copy paper wrapper, hanging
file folders, blueprints or
mustard colored envelopes. Discard "non-paper" inserts from junk mail. Staples OK. |
| Mixed Paper - magazines & catalogs,
phone books, copy paper wrapper, file
folders, paper back books, non-manila
folders & envelopes, white paper bags,
construction paper, paperboard & poster
board. |
No carbon paper, blueprints,
paper cups or plates, wet
strength paper, waxed paper,
napkins, tissue paper or paper
towels, aseptic packages (drink
boxes), hard backed books. |
| Egg Cartons - clean paperboard or
plastic cartons OK for re-use. |
Flats and torn paper cartons go
in with "Mixed Paper". |
| Stretchable Plastic - bags for groceries,
produce, bread & frozen vegetables. |
Clean stretchable plastic. |
| Aluminum Cans - If unsure, use a
magnet, it will not stick to aluminum. |
Empty cans of contents. Be
careful not to mix w/steel cans. |
| Aluminum Foil & Pie Plates |
Do not mix with aluminum cans. |
| Steel Cans - cans used for soup, dog
food, vegetables, etc. |
Rinse thoroughly. No spray
cans of any kind. Remember a
magnet will stick to steel. |
| Ink Cartridges |
Cartridges with a copper strip
are accepted. No toner bottles. |
| Packing Peanuts |
No contaminated material or
rigid Styrofoam. |
