Valley Recycle Pick Up :: The Valley recycles. We pick it up.

Recycling at home can be simple. The best way to make it a success is to get the whole household involved. Make everyone feel like they have a part. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Recycle @Home!

Do you pre-cycle?

Before you recycle, Pre-cycle!

This is a simple concept of buying products whose packaging can be re-used or recycled. For example, buy milk in plastic jugs instead of wax cartons or buy eggs in paper cartons instead of Styrofoam. Start reducing your trash at the store.

Recycle at Home

1
Familiarize yourself and your household with the "Recyclable Household Materials" list provided. Take a look at the amount of recyclable items that are making their way into the garbage. Many American’s focus on recycling in the kitchen, but forget about products and packaging consumed elsewhere, like bathrooms, laundry rooms and garages. Could things you normally throw away be recycled?
2
Find a convenient place to keep your recyclables. It could be the garage, the basement, a closet or under the sink. Be consistent with where your items go and make sure everyone knows where the recyclables go. For households with limited space, a two-step approach might work best; keep small containers inside and empty them into larger containers outside.
3
Decide what bin(s) works for you and your space. The containers can be as simple as paper or plastic grocery bags or as complex as a multi-bin cabinet. Choose a bin(s) that will make it as easy as posible to put your recyclables on the curb for pick-up.
4
Sort and clean your items as detailed in the "Recyclable Household Materials" list. Sorting your items can be as easy as putting them in separate grocery bags, which can also be recycled. Sorting and cleaning can keep your house smelling nice and keep animals away.
